The Church's mission is to bring people to Jesus.
But here’s the truth: most parishes have forgotten this. Many are stuck in maintenance mode, managing decline and keeping the boat steady by doing things that may have worked in the past but no longer work today.
The result? Life is bleeding out of our parishes. People are leaving. Congregations are aging. Parishes are merging. Some are even closing. And as a result, people don’t encounter Jesus.
So many of our parishes are on life support. What is to stop them from going down this path of terminal decline?

We believe that if 16% — or 33,000 — of Catholic parishes globally embrace their missionary identity, then we will catalyze a historical tipping point of change that will impact the Church — and the world.

In the year 2033, soon upon us, we will not only celebrate the 2000th anniversary of the LORD’s Resurrection but equally His Great Commission to the Church to proclaim His Gospel to the whole of Creation. It is a Commission which has lost none of its urgency and, which, “after two thousand years, has lost none of its freshness”. (Rosarium Virginis Mariae). I hope many parishes across the world will join in this mission and create a tipping point for the reconciliation of our world with the LORD and His Gospel of life.

A young pastor in my Diocese introduced Divine Renovation into his already active parish. Just last Spring at our Diocesan Annual Clergy Assembly, I invited two presenters to speak about the work of Divine Renovation to the priests. The presentations were well received by the priests and generated an enthusiasm for the goals of Divine Renovation: to make our parishes communities that form missionary disciples on fire with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that promote a commitment to ongoing conversion to the mission of the New Evangelization. Already 9 parishes are at various stages in implementing Divine Renovation. I strongly support Divine Renovation as a means of parish renewal.
